SEAL ROCK OREGON: Family Photographer

Seal Rock: A Hidden Gem, One of My Favorite Family Photoshoot Locations

Seal Rock, located just a short 15-minute drive south of Newport, Oregon, is one of my favorite spots for family photoshoots. Though it may not be as iconic as Haystack Rock in Pacific City, Seal Rock is a true hidden-in-plain-sight gem—one of those places that feels like stepping into another world.

What makes Seal Rock stand out to me is the unique combination of features: striking rock formations, a rugged coastline, tide pools, and easy access. Every corner of this beach is brimming with character, providing endless opportunities for stunning photos. The best time to visit is during low tide, and I especially love mornings here. There’s something magical about the way the soft morning light spills over the trees and onto the sand, casting a gentle glow over the sea. Everything feels crisp and timeless in the early hours, making it the perfect time to create beautiful, natural images.

So, if you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend taking the time to visit Seal Rock—and don’t just stay in your car viewing it from the road! The true magic of this spot is felt when you step down onto the sand, with your feet immersed at the water’s edge. Whether you’re visiting for a photo session or just to experience the beauty of the coast, Seal Rock is a spot that never fails to inspire.

After your photoshoot with me, head over to Luna Sea for the perfect meal to end your day! This cozy restaurant Luna Sea Fish House is just a minute away and offers delicious, locally sourced dishes—making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring and capturing memories.
