The Oregon Coast is my favorite place to do family photos & Cannon beach does not disappoint when it comes to Oregon Coast locations. The Parks family came all the way from Utah to relax on the Oregon Coast & I was so stoked to do family photos with them.

Cannon beach is a Northern Oregon Coast town & I highly recommend checking out Pelican Brewing if you’re in the area. Cannon beach is best known for its massive rock feature - Haystack rock, which is a nesting area for tufted puffins & adds a mystical element to photos.

After this family session ended I stayed on the beach for a little while to explore the tadpoles and take in the fresh ocean air. I watched a bald eagle steal a tufted puffin baby off of the top of haystack rock. It was an incredible sight to see & hear. Everyone on the beach turned their heads to this sight, as hundreds of other birds flew off the rock and started flying in a circle around it. The sound of seagulls was so loud & the eagle was easy to spot because it was three times bigger than all of the other birds around.

Mary’s Peak is an incredible location for family photos. Located outside of Philomath OR and less than an hour from downtown Corvallis. Mary’s peak requires some driving up a windy road (if you are car sick prone like me: drive slow), but the view from the top is well worth it & you’r kids will awe at the views.

Mary's Peak is the highest point in Oregon’s Coast Range, it has a variety of trails and spectacular views. Speckled with Noble fir forest & rolling meadows and on a clear day, from the top of the peak, you can see both the Pacific Ocean to the west and many of the Cascade peaks to the east. Mary’s Peak is also home to some beautiful wildflowers in the spring and summer months.

This session took some juggling of dates in order to hit the peak on a beautiful day. The first day we had planned the shoot for got completely rained out & from the Willamette Valley below you couldn’t even see the peak, so we switched our date in order to have a beautiful sunset session in the rolling meadows.

This mama wanted some good family photos at a Willamette Valley Covered bridge, so we made it happen. The Larwood covered bridge is a historic landmark & one of my favorites in the area. Getting all of your adult children on board for a family session is a big task, but it turned out to be a fun endeavor for everyone involved. The benefit of this covered bridge is that there are nice restrooms, picnic tables and there is access to the water!
