South beach in Newport, OR is one of my favorite locations for a couples session. I know of a guy who got flung off his surf board by a great white shark here, he was fine, his board was not. But don’t worry, you likely won’t be swimming in the deep shark water during our session. Erica & Maddie were so much fun to work with, they came all the way from Bend and stayed right on Newports historic waterfront at the Embarcadero! After the session we went to Mo’s [ https://www.moschowder.com ] & ordered one of everything on the menu, because all that running around on the beach made us hungry.

Oregons beaches are my favorite backdrops from family photos. You can’t go wrong with family photos at the beach, especially if you have little ones who love to play in the sand! This Maternity session in Corvallis Oregon was inspired by a plant in my house. It was growing like crazy & so was my sweet friend, yoga mentor & longtime supporter of my small photography business, Jill. This Corvallis yoga teacher, mom extraordinaire was almost 40 weeks pregnant. So I sent her a text that said something along the lines of “hey, I know you might go into labor any moment but…would you wanna come do maternity photoshoot with me, I have a few ideas.” This maternity session was very laid back, we listened to some music, I brought some house plants and some dried lavender I had just collected from my garden & we got to creating!

Domaine Roy is a beautiful winery located in the heart of the Willamatte Valley. This winery couldn’t have been a more perfect wedding venue for Valerie and Peter. The views are amazing and the staff at Domaine Roy are a joy to work with.

We started the day by getting couples photos out of the way, before the ceremony. After the short and sweet ceremony on the deck overlooking the vineyard guests made their way inside to break bread and drink wine while also enjoying the beautiful views of the surrounding vineyard.

When I first talked to Valerie she told me about her business: Painted Light Glass, her work with glass was a big inspiration for some of the images taken on their wedding day. Creating images as the sun went down on the vineyard was the highlight of the day for me. I have never seen anyone drink red wine in a white dress as gracefully as Valerie did.

Rock Springs Ranch is located just outside of downtown Bend, Oregon. The venue is nestled in quiet seclusion with tall surrounding timber, a Northwest-style lodge, beautiful pond, large pastures, an outdoor fireplace and plenty of cabins where friends and family can stay. Rock springs ranch is truly a hidden gem in Bend & the perfect place to plan a wedding easily and without hassle. The staff at Rock Springs Ranch are kind and helpful & can truly make your wedding vision come to life.

I was stoked to photograph Natalie & Nick’s wedding day at this extraordinary venue. They choose to have their ceremony in front of the pond & got down on the dance floor on the patio. I have always wanted to photograph a wedding with mismatched bridesmaid dress colors & Natalie made that dream come true for me. She’s an interior designer so her style and color coordination are superb.

The Red Barn Villa in Oregon city, OR is a beautiful luxury wedding venue with everything you could ever need on you’r wedding day. There are so many beautiful nooks of beauty, indoor & outdoor, covered & uncovered spaces, along with small getting ready rooms & clean bathrooms for guests.

The Red Barn Villa venue has many beautiful spots you could have your ceremony and the Linzy’s decided to have theirs in the fir forest on the property. This spot is magical! It’s surrounded 360 degrees by trees beautifully framing the ceremony from any angle.

Alsea Oregon is nestled in Oregon Coast range on hwy 34 between Corvallis OR & Waldport OR. Highway 34 follows the beautiful Alsea River from the Willamette valley to the Oregon Coast, its a windy road but totally worth the beauty of the drive if you ever find yourself traveling between the Willamette Valley & the Oregon Coast.

This Alsea Oregon backyard wedding was magical. Every detail of this backyard wedding was well thought out and beautifully crafted. Lexi & Eric own a nice piece of property along the Alsea river that they turned into one of the most beautiful wedding venues I’ve ever had the pleasure of being at. Normally they raise cows in their pastures but on this day they raised a beautifully detailed wedding venue for their family & friends to celebrate with them at.

We started the day inside their home, popping Champagne, shotgunning beers & reading love notes. When I left the venue at 10pm there was a fine mist starting to settle into the low lying areas of the coast range, the chatting & laughter from the dance floor echoed through the little valley and into the surrounding forest.

The Oregon Coast is my favorite place to do family photos & Cannon beach does not disappoint when it comes to Oregon Coast locations. The Parks family came all the way from Utah to relax on the Oregon Coast & I was so stoked to do family photos with them.

Cannon beach is a Northern Oregon Coast town & I highly recommend checking out Pelican Brewing if you’re in the area. Cannon beach is best known for its massive rock feature - Haystack rock, which is a nesting area for tufted puffins & adds a mystical element to photos.

After this family session ended I stayed on the beach for a little while to explore the tadpoles and take in the fresh ocean air. I watched a bald eagle steal a tufted puffin baby off of the top of haystack rock. It was an incredible sight to see & hear. Everyone on the beach turned their heads to this sight, as hundreds of other birds flew off the rock and started flying in a circle around it. The sound of seagulls was so loud & the eagle was easy to spot because it was three times bigger than all of the other birds around.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Heather & Chris for a while now. When they reached out to me about doing their engagement photos I was ecstatic. They told me little details about their love story unfolding at the Oregon Country Fair. I knew immediately that’s where we would do our shoot, they were totally on board! It was so much fun walking around the grounds in the off season and having them point to different spots and reminisce. We made it out just in time before the swarm of mosquitos. Cheers to happy hippy love!

Mary’s Peak is an incredible location for family photos. Located outside of Philomath OR and less than an hour from downtown Corvallis. Mary’s peak requires some driving up a windy road (if you are car sick prone like me: drive slow), but the view from the top is well worth it & you’r kids will awe at the views.

Mary's Peak is the highest point in Oregon’s Coast Range, it has a variety of trails and spectacular views. Speckled with Noble fir forest & rolling meadows and on a clear day, from the top of the peak, you can see both the Pacific Ocean to the west and many of the Cascade peaks to the east. Mary’s Peak is also home to some beautiful wildflowers in the spring and summer months.

This session took some juggling of dates in order to hit the peak on a beautiful day. The first day we had planned the shoot for got completely rained out & from the Willamette Valley below you couldn’t even see the peak, so we switched our date in order to have a beautiful sunset session in the rolling meadows.

Otter Crest Oregon Proposal

I was so stoked when Justin reached out to have me photograph his surprise proposal to his longtime girlfriend. Justin is also from Newport, Oregon (like me), so he found me through mutual people. He wanted to do his proposal at the Ben Jones bridge, which is a location I had done senior photos at a couple times before & also a location of big significance to Justin as his family had spread his moms ashes here the year before. This surprise proposal couldn’t have been more special. They brought flowers to leave in memory of his mom & the rain poured on us as he got down on one knee. It was as Oregon Coast as an Oregon Coast proposal could be, pouring rain, whipping wind and the overwhelming sound of king tide waves slapping against the rocks and bridge below.

I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful summer wedding at Abernethy Center in Oregon City. Brittany & Parker were a joy to work with and every part of their wedding day was beautiful. They held their ceremony in the Veiled Garden which is secluded, serene & picturesque. Subtle breezes made the shade providing trees surrounding the garden dance around as they framed the ceremony procession.

The reception was held in the Abernethy Ballroom located across the street from the Veiled Garden & was the perfect inclusive space for an elegant wedding reception. The Abernethy venue space also has a chapel you can get married in if it rains, providing all your guests with plenty of space to stay dry.

Langdon farms is located in Aurora, Oregon close to the I-5 hwy. It’s about a 15 minute drive south of Portland, OR which makes it a perfect venue for any folks who don’t want to travel too far from the city, but also want a beautiful green location & an all inclusive venue. The event staff at this wedding were super helpful & the big “red shed” with giant roll up doors was perfect when the Oregon weather took a turn for the worst on this wedding day.

I met Gunn & Rene through Oregon Coast Hometown connections & I felt so honored to be selected as their photographer on their wedding day. Gunn has family who came from the other side of the world to celebrate her wedding day and this venue was perfect for them, I mean what’s better than leaving and not having to make sure the venue is cleaned up afterwards?

Langdon farms has so many great spots around the venue & lots of paved paths so that you’r beautiful white dress doesn’t get muddy when its wet and rainy in typical Oregon weather fashion.

I was so excited when Pj & Pear reached out to me about doing their engagement photos, knowing that they were up for an adventure, we decided to hike up God’s Thumb on the Oregon Coast. Lincoln City has some amazing beach spots & hikes, God’s thumb ranks very high on my list.

The hike is pretty short and sweet, but it can be very muddy depending on the season you go in. We went in the rainy season but luckily we only got sprinkled on a little bit. There are two trails the shorter one is not technically open to the public, so we took the longer trail to the top. Its about a two mile trip to the top and we giggled the whole way.

A big benefit of going in the off season is that there is less people. In recent years the God’s Thumb hike has become very popular for hikers and photographers alike!

The Oaks Pioneer Church in Sellwood is the smallest & most beautiful church I have ever been in. The amazing stained glass windows are beautiful and were a perfect backdrop for this small wedding ceremony. There weren’t more than 30 people here to witness & be apart of S & D’s wedding ceremony, they wanted to keep it small, short & sweet and it was exactly that. It was so special to be apart of this small wedding.

Silver Falls is a beautiful spot for engagement photos. There are a number of different waterfalls along the trails around around the park. It’s best to plan a photo session on a week day because Silver Falls is a popular hiking spot and fills up on the weekends.

Mayra has the best style & is unbeatable when it comes to curating her wardrobe. I was so stoked when she told me she was gonna wear this beautiful red dress & I knew it would contrast nicely with the greenery of Silver Falls State park, she even did part of the trek in heels.

It was a cold October day but you wouldn’t know it from looking at these photos. I spent quite a bit of time queuing them from afar because I wanted to get a wide shot of the trail going behind the waterfall with M&L positioned perfectly within the natural framing of the landscape.

This mama wanted some good family photos at a Willamette Valley Covered bridge, so we made it happen. The Larwood covered bridge is a historic landmark & one of my favorites in the area. Getting all of your adult children on board for a family session is a big task, but it turned out to be a fun endeavor for everyone involved. The benefit of this covered bridge is that there are nice restrooms, picnic tables and there is access to the water!

Alsea Falls is a beautiful spot to get engagement photos done. The walk to the falls is beautiful, surrounded by tree’s & has a very fairy-tale like feeling to it. When I found out that Alsea falls is where Alayna proposed to Jacq and that they were down to go back for their photos I was stoked! I got to adventure through the woods with these two lovely ladies and their troop of young boys. Their boys are smart & independent and had plenty of woods and wonders to keep them distracted while I did photos with their moms.

The Buena Vista Observatory is an air bnb rental in Independence Oregon. Its a bird watching paradise and the home itself is a unique piece of architecture surrounded by beautiful sweeping views and the perfect hot tub on the roof for star gazing at night. Jacq & Alayna held their small wedding on the property surrounded by family & friends.
